Voices Aloud – That’s When the Music Takes Me

Kettering based choir ‘Voices Aloud’ will be performing their third concert, starting on Thursday 29th September 2011 for three nights only,
at the Masque Theatre Kettering. Since the choir’s first concert in 2009 it has made significant progress – in March 2011 it came first in its section (Choirs, Songs from the Musicals) at the Kettering & District Eisteddfod and it secured third place at the Oundle Festival of Music & Drama 2011.

“I’m confident that September’s concert will be our best ever” said Musical Director Hughie James. “We have included many new songs
from artists such as Abba, The Beatles, Neil Sedaka and Queen, to name but a few as well as a few favorites from our original portfolio”.
The September concert will be a tribute to Jenny Docherty (nee Jenny Barford) who sadly died in May of this year following a long illness.
Jenny together with Hughie established Voices Aloud in October 2009 following a joint long-term ambition.

“The choir has built up a solid group of supporters since 2009 – I look forward to welcoming many of them again in September and I hope
to see lots of new faces” said Hughie.

For One Night Only - (charity concert)

Voices Aloud will be performing at the Masque Theatre, Barton Seagrave on Saturday April 30th 2011 - this is the choir's second concert at the Masque and like the first, it has been very well supported by fans, friends & family. The choir has been working very hard to bring you a night to remember. Some of the songs from the first concert will be featured along with many new ones.

We'd love to get some feedback about the concert and any suggestions you might have - please post your thoughts on our new blog.

Voices Aloud picks up third place at Oundle Festival of Music & Drama 2011

Mixed feelings about Saturday; was it down to our performance, or was it that we had some very stiff competition. What ever the case, it was good experience - it's only by entering these competitions that we can see the standard of other choirs and that will give us something to aim for.

Please post your comments about our performance on our new blog.

Voices Aloud wins at Kettering & District Eisteddfod 2011

The choir competed at the Kettering & District Eisteddfod on Saturday 19th March 2011 and came first in its section (Choirs, Songs from the Musicals).  Adjudicator, Marilynne Davies was very complimentary about the choir's performance - she commented on how 'together' the choir was throughout its performance and was also very pleased to see a mixed choir in this section of the competition.
